Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed creative house AOI TYO Holdings Inc has injected $5 million into Spiral Ventures Asia Fund I to expand its business in the Asian market, according to a company announcement.

Spiral Ventures, formed in February 2013, has mainly invested in startup companies in the early to growth stage in Southeast Asia and India. It is raising $50 million for its first fund, which is expected to close this year. The fund will be deployed in Southeast Asia and India.

Jointly formed by AOI Pro Inc and TYO Inc with a registered capital of 5 billion yen in January 2017, AOI TYO Holdings provides creative services for advertising and video, including the largest television commercial production business in Japan.

This investment is one of its growth strategies for its advertising and video production solution services and overseas business, it said.

The Japanese firm said the investment will help further expand its overseas presence by establishing early relationships with Asian venture funds. “This is expected to also involve business expansion that leverages the knowledge that the AOI TYO Holdings group has in the fields of advertising and video production,” it added.
